Né à Moscou, Nicolas Sokoloff arrive à Paris en 1922.Il se tourne vers la peinture et commence par la décoration.Il se consacre à son art à partir de 1938 , Il expose au Musée Saint-Pierre à Lyon,Puis à Paris où il obtient le prix de New-York .Au cours de ses 50 ans d’activité artistique , il peint de très nombreux paysages,Nature-morte , portraits, on le surnomme « Le Prince Russe de La Peinture Lyonnaise» -

Oil on panel, signed lower right. Bearing on the back the certificate of the workshop of Nicolas SOKOLOFF dated 1976. Nicolas Sokoloff, born in Moscow  arrives in Paris in 1922. He turns to painting and begins with the decoration. He devoted himself to his art from 1938, exhibited at the Saint-Pierre Museum in Lyon, then in Paris where he won the New York Prize. During his 50 years of artistic activity, he paints many landscapes, still life, portraits, it is nicknamed "The Russian Prince of Lyonnaise painting"
