Importante sculpture en bronze par Jean-Baptiste Germain représentant Esméralda dansant avec sa chèvre Djali. Signé ”Germain”et titré ” Phoebus” sur la terrasse., Bronze finement ciselé avec une belle patine d’origine nuancée  . Epoque seconde moitié du XIXème.
 Jean-Baptiste Germain né en 1841 à Fismes, dans la Marne.. Elève des sculpteurs Auguste Dumont (1801-1884) and Charles-Alphonse Gumery (1827-1871) à l’école des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Il exposa au Salon de 1866 à 1 909.Sociétaire de la Société des Artistes Français depuis 1889 Il gagna de nombreux prix pour ses œuvres (médaille de troisième classe en 1883 et mention honorable à l’exposition universelle de 1900) . Germain mourut en 1910. 
Le personnage d’Esméralda inspira de nombreux artistes. « Notre Dame de Paris », de Victor Hugo, a paru en 1831 Ce livre est devenu rapidement très populaire . Esméralda était très amoureuse du beau Capitaine de la Garde Phoebus, un fourbe qui ne l’aimait pas. Elle n’a pas su voir que derrière la laideur de Quasimodo se cachait un cœur pur qui l’aimait.

Epoque second half of the nineteenth.  Total height 70cm Diameter of the base 20,5cm: Jean-Baptiste Germain born in 1841 in Fismes, in the Marne .. Pupil of the sculptors Auguste Dumont (1801-1884) and Charles-Alphonse Gumery (1827-1871) to the School of Fine Arts in Paris. He exhibited at the Salon from 1866 to 1909. Member of the Society of French Artists since 1889 He won numerous prizes for his works (third class medal in 1883 and honorable mention at the 1900 world exhibition). Germain died in 1910. "Notre-Dame de Paris ", by Victor Hugo, was published in 1831. This book quickly became very popular and Esmeralda's character inspired many artists. Esmeralda was very in love with the handsome Captain of the Guard Phoebus, a deceitful man who did not like her. She could not see that behind the ugliness of Quasimodo hid a pure heart that loved her.
